Since the dawn of the century technological advancements seem to be gaining at an even more alarming rate. We remember using brick mobile phones, which doesn’t seem that long ago here at Ace Glass. Modern technology has been creeping into our home for some time. now. You can now get touchscreens on refrigerators, society it seems wants to have access to the internet from everywhere, from your tv, phone, car and who knows where else. Well now there is talk of accessing the internet from your shower. Is this much different from a radio in your shower which have been around for years?
The idea is that it would be much like an iPad, so a touchscreen device where you can access your apps and go online to check your emails. Not convinced that you will want to be doing this when you are washing your hair, not too mention the steam. We haven’t yet done any shower installations yet that comprise of full internet access.
Personally it is doubtful that this (potential) craze will take off. A shower is after all an experience whereby you are washing yourself then you are out. If you want a similar experience then have a nice relaxing bath with a waterproof cover on your iPad. On the plus side though, this may attract consumers who are not keen on a shower, the fact that they can be online at the same time may swing it for them, who knows? This is technology all over unfortunately, for the groundbreaking tech that hits the market, there is always inevitably technology that comes to the fore that for all intents and purposes is pretty redundant. This I fear is the fate of “The connected Shower”. You heard it here first! Now maybe here at Ace Glass we will go and patent that term for our shower installations, watch this space!
