When you think of cars without a windshield, the type of vehicles that come to mind are the ones listed on Craigslist, and not vehicles you’d expect to pay truckloads of cash for. Mazda MX5 Superlight Edition – Released as the MX-5 in Japan and the U.K. and Miata in the United States, the MX-5 is grown to be one of best selling 2 seater cars in the world. And to commemorate this success, Mazda released the MX-5 Superlight Edition, which boasts eye catching exterior styling including No windshield, retractable roof or frame. This 20th anniversary model is based on the RS soft top model mated with a six speed manual transmission, but can also be ordered with Mazda’s retractable hard top.
The MX-5 Superlight 20th anniversary edition however comes suited with a ton of extra appointments such as black and red Recaro style bucket seats, 20th anniversary badges, clear front fog lights and five temperature heated seats. Adding to its exclusive characteristics, all MX-5 Superlight models arrive in crystal white pearl mica, a first for the Mazda roadster. Designed in an effort to increase fuel economy and driving performance, the Superlight MX-5 is powered by a 1.8 litre, 4-cylinder engine complete with a Mazdaspeed cold air intake and exhaust.
Lamborghini Aventador J – built in just six weeks, the Lamborghini Aventador J is a screenless and roofless stunning speedster that was designed by Filippo Perini exclusively and wowed fans at the 2012 Geneva Motor show. The J edition is similar to the Aventador in several aspects only with the roof and windscreen lopped off. The only traits of the Aventador that remain are the headlights, front fender, rear fender and the front bonnet. The front of the Lamborghini Aventador J is fitted with a huge winglet covered diffuser, a larger rear diffuser complete with four rather evil exhausts. It can be yours for under £2 million, but unfortunately was built for just one customer so you’ll have to wait for Lambo’s future iconic creations.
Unveiled at the 2013 Geneva motor show, the Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio is an open roofed roadster that arrives with no windshield in its concept version. Just like the 458, the Pininfarina Sergio is a sight to behold with a certain retro futuristic design. The concept vehicle had no windscreen, but had matt black surfaces in front of the driver that directed to airflow over the driver’s and passenger’s heads and across the rear wing and rear deck. Its styling cues are similar to the Pininfarina-styled Ferraris of the ’60s and ’70s and only 6 lucky individuals will make it to the owners list.
So of course you can get cars with no windscreen, only that you will have to pay overwhelming prices for them.
